Description: Kell is one of the last Antari—magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel Londons; Red, Grey, White, and, once upon a time, Black. After an exchange goes awry, Kell escapes to Grey London and runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She first robs him, then saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure. Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they'll first need to stay alive.
Review: I really loved this book! This is only the second book by Schwab that I've read but it is definitely cementing her as one of my FAVORITE authors. She has such a beautiful way of writing and her prose is flawless. I can't wait to read the rest of this trilogy. The only thing I will say about this book is that the magic system is a little hard to understand at first. It just a little more restricted and limited than I am used to in fantasy series.
Final Note: Just like The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue, this book is so quotable. Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“I'm not going to die," she said. "Not till I've seen it."
"Seen what?"
Her smile widened. "Everything.”
“I apologize for anything I might have done. I was not myself.”
“I apologize for shooting you in the leg.” said Lila. “I was myself entirely.”
